Pigeons create meteor shower across New York
Two thousand pigeons are mounted led lights on the foot drop into the sky of New York to create extremely beautiful spectacle.
According to Guardian, this art performance starts from sunset, lasting 30 minutes on the East River at Brooklyn, New York, and US Navy ports on May 7.The program is part of the project "Fly by Night - Africa" by artist Dule Riley, sponsored by non-profit organization Creative Time.
The pigeons are waiting for their turn to perform.Mr. Riley said, the Phi Phi project was inspired by an old book of technical instruction to train the US military's night duty pigeons.
After Riley blew her whistle, the flock of led pigeons flew up into the sky from a large nest on the Baylander, the carrier that served during the Vietnam War.
Birds flock to the East River under Riley's control with a flag tied to the head of the bamboo pole. These led lights are also remotely controlled from Baylander.
"That spectacle is like a meteor shower across the sky. This is a project of cooperation between me and the pigeons. And it is an art performance, or maybe it is just a picture of birds drawn in the sky, "Riley said.
Riley said he chose Brooklyn Naval Port to implement the art project because on a nearby artificial island, the US Navy has nurtured and trained the first mailing pigeons in the early 20th century. .
Before the show, most of Mr. Riley's birds were specially trained;Even, some of them are owned by him.The rest were either bought by him or borrowed from the birds. After the project ended, Riley intended to keep most of the herd of birds to raise.
The performance will take place every weekend from now until June 12.Visitors are not charged but will have to book in advance via the Internet.
