In order to ensure sufficient raw materials for sustainable incense production villages, Nghe An Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with Quy Chau district Agricultural and Fishery Extension Station deployed a model of growing root-root trees under trees the forest.

The project selected 4 groups of households in Chau Hanh, Chau Hoi and Chau Phong communes, with an area of ​​more than 6ha.

Experts from the Department of Science and Technology, District Agricultural Extension Station have returned to the village, the village instructed the cultivation techniques for the people. The root incense tree is very suitable for planting under the forest canopy, around the household garden and on hill land, the amount of NPK fertilizer investment is only 500 kg / ha, the planting time is in May and June, with a density of about 3,000 bunches / ha . Every year, people just weed, raise their roots 2 to 3 times.

After 18 months, the roots of the tree were harvested, the yield reached more than 4,500kg / ha. After deducting the expenses, the households earn more than 50 million VND / ha.

After more than two years of implementing the project, the model of growing incense trees under forest canopy has brought about high economic efficiency for families.

Quy Chau Agricultural and Fishery Extension Station has expanded to Chau Binh, Quy Chau, Chau Thang and Chau Tien communes . with many households growing separately, each year providing over 140 tons of fresh incense roots to craft villages. In the province, more than 16,000,000 incense sticks were produced, revenue reached nearly 4 billion VND.

The model of growing incense root trees under the forest canopy has opened a new direction, creating jobs for local people, increasing income, contributing to reducing poverty rate quickly, raising awareness of resource protection. , sustainable forest ecology.
