Plastic bags kill alligators
A crocodile that once threatened tourists near the Great Barrier Reef just lost its life by swallowing too many plastic bags.
On November 1, the Environmental Protection Agency of Queensland, Australia, announced that the crocodile died a day after being caught near Magnetic Island, close to the world famous coral reef along the northeastern coast of Australia.
People found 25 plastic bags to buy and store garbage in the animal's stomach, along with a rubber float and wine bag.
" Those things are tightly packed in the stomach of a crocodile that makes it impossible to digest food. No animal can survive after swallowing so much into the stomach ," said an official of the Protection Agency. Queensland state environment stated.
Many experts were surprised to learn that a 3.5 meter long crocodile swallowed plastic bags for a long time to kill his own life. They claim that its death shows that the amount of garbage in the sea has risen to frightening levels.
The crocodile used to live in Australia's remote Cape York peninsula before moving north and appearing near Magnetic Island, an attractive tourist spot. Its presence makes the diving service here in a dire situation.
