Project Escher: Autodesk Multi-Dimensional 3D Printing Development Project

A moderately priced 3D printer also comes with a limitation: they are usually small and can only be printed in small size products. To create something bigger, users need to break up their designs, then reassemble them.

However, Autodesk offers a more efficient approach: creating a multi-head printing system , which makes manufacturing large parts quick and easy. As part of Project Escher's new project, Autodesk wants to set up a " 3D printing line ," with printheads working together, in the same or different fields, thereby speeding up production.

The Escher project researchers say the print heads can be changed to fit the task they are responsible for. Print heads can even be replaced with a robotic arm , allowing the product to be removed from the system as soon as the printing process terminates. " The Escher project is a parallel processing system where many independent tools work together to work together on a design, and the progress will be accelerated because there are so many people doing it. As planned, Autodesk will release a commercial version of the multi-head 3D printing system, in 2017 or 2018, at promising prices.
