3D printers help patients print their own medications at home

Not only can you create a guitar or delicious chocolate pieces, the three-dimensional printer is out of the simplest form to create useful products. Thanks to researchers at the University of Glasgrow (UK), this modern technology can now contribute to saving lives as it can print drugs.

GS. Lee Cronin and colleagues introduced the drug print technology in a scientific paper published in the journal Nature Chemistry.

The researchers changed the 3D printer they bought for $ 2,000, for the chemicals into the container. From there, they create smaller and cheaper chemical processors.

This innovation can expand the production of expensive cancer drugs, allowing pharmacists to print drugs for patients in need, or even allowing patients to print their own medications at home.

"We can use 3D printers to revolutionize access to health care in developing countries, which makes diagnosis and treatment more effective and cost-effective , " said Cronin .
