Quang Tri: Release rare and precious turtles to the ocean
Recently, in the Cua Viet sea area (Gio Linh, Quang Tri district), Quang Tri Fisheries Exploitation and Aquatic Resource Protection in coordination with Cua Viet port border guard station released the Quan Dong turtle - a solid turtle rare and precious sea.
Quan Dong Turtle was discovered by fishermen Nguyen Cong Nam (living in Cua Viet town, Gio Linh) at the sea area near Con Co island weighing about 20kg. According to CITES, this is a particularly rare turtle belonging to the endangered group in the list of species threatened with extinction, prohibiting all acts of buying and selling.

After receiving reports from the people, the Department of Exploitation and Protection of Aquatic Resources in collaboration with the Border Gate of Cua Viet Port made a record of seizure and release to the natural environment. Before releasing, this turtle was tagged with a geotag to track the path and take protective measures.
So far, Quang Tri fishermen have discovered and released 20 sea turtles to the ocean, including many named in the Red Book of the world.
