Rare and precious white horse bears found in Quang Ngai

Quang Ngai authorities have discovered a villager who kept a rare female horse bear in the left leg.

Talking to the PV, Mr. Nguyen Van Han, Head of Quang Ngai Forest Protection Department said the bear weighs about 65kg, in front of the chest with white fur, female.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, who kept the bears, said that about two years ago, he bought this bear from a hunter of ethnic minorities in Quang Nam to take care of him. Currently the bear is injured with a left leg in front.

"Seeing that a bear with a beautiful coat color is injured, I bought it instead of being a rare animal," Thanh said.

Asiatic black bears are rare animals.

The FPD is contacting the nation's Wildlife Rescue Centers to confiscate, hand over bear bears, and possibly raise and breed, he said.

Sun bears have the scientific name Ursus thibetanus or Ursus tibetanus , also known as Tibetan Black Bear, Himalayan Black Bear or Asian Black Bear. Medium sized bear, sharp claws, black with a characteristic white "V" shape or cream on the chest. Horse bears are about 1.3 to 1.9 meters long. Males weigh about 110 to 150kg and females are between 65 and 90kg, with a lifespan of 25 years.

The Asiatic black bear has been included in the IUCN Red List (World Conservation Association) as a vulnerable species among endangered animals.
