Rare footage: A piece of meteorite hits the ground, illuminating a sky

But are you sure this is a meteor? NASA only discovered this a few hours before it hit the ground.

Last Saturday night, the western suburb of Johannesburg witnessed a rare sight: a part of the tablet that had disintegrated in the atmosphere landed on the ground, exploding a clear sky. The video taken from the area's surveillance system gave us a spectacle that was no different from the movie.

This meteorite was discovered only by NASA a few hours after it hit Earth. Fortunately, it is very small, only 1.8 meters in diameter, so most meteorites have disintegrated in the atmosphere.

A little bit of cosmic information to let you feel small (and anxious): just inside our Solar System, there are thousands of meteorites that are about 1 kilometer across, and if it goes to the real Earth , there are only a few days to prepare from the moment of discovery until it comes to knocking on our door. At that time, the result will not be as surprising as the video above, but it will be very unpredictable.
