Discovery News said Phoenix 40-A, the name of the robot, was invented by TiaLinx in California. It is capable of detecting movement and breathing of people in underground construction when flying. People can control the Phoenix-A from far away.
Thanks to the ability to emit narrow beam radio frequencies at few GHz, the Phoenix 40-A can penetrate solid buildings. It is equipped with cameras capable of recording both day and night. This robot is lightweight and able to move flexibly. All of these factors make it an ideal reconnaissance tool in many situations.
In addition, the Phoenix 40-A can also be used to build a multi-storey building map, detecting landmines buried underground, searching for people buried under debris caused by natural disasters.
The US military has funded TiaLinx to develop the Phoenix-A into automatic flying equipment capable of engaging in military operations.
