Recreate Mars model on Earth

Spanish scientists have just created a room that fully simulates all the climatic and environmental conditions of Mars to study.

According to technology website CNET on March 25, Mars dust is extremely dangerous . Formed from silicate , when penetrating into human lungs, Mars dust turns into dangerous chemicals. Mars dust is formed from microscopic particles, so even the most modern dust filtration systems are difficult to hinder them.

Mars dust is also a major threat to equipment. Due to the high accumulation of iron oxide, Mars dust can cling to and corrode surface of machinery. To study how to protect Mars from dust, Spanish experts built a room that simulates natural conditions on the red planet, including pressure, temperature, atmosphere, radioactivity and dust. .

In the room named MARTE Machine , the temperature can range from -165 degrees Celsius to 149 degrees Celsius and the atmosphere contains 95% CO2. 'We simulate the impact of Mars dust to understand how the devices react when covered by this dust' - researcher Jesus Sobrado of the specialist group from the Instituto de Ciencias de Materiales Institute in Madrid .

The team is also working with the US Aerospace Agency (NASA) to help the agency test devices that will be delivered to Mars in future projects.'This lab will help answer a lot of questions about Mars and other related objects' - researcher Jose Angel Martin-Gago said.

In addition to a laboratory that simulates Mars conditions, the Spanish team has also built a number of laboratories that simulate the environment of other planets and of Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, as well as space between planets.
