According to the test results of the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention Police of Yen Bai Province, the water of Red River flowing through Yen Bai province is seriously polluted by toxic lead and metals exceeding 5 times. compared with the standards prescribed for surface water quality standards.

Lieutenant Colonel Bui Duy Hien - Head of the Environmental Crime Prevention Police said that through the masses' information, from February 26, the water of the Red River in many sections has the phenomenon of changing from green to slightly dark gray contrary to natural law.

On February 28, the unit conducted surface water sampling in the Red River basin in the territory of Team I, Gioi Phien Commune, Yen Bai City for analysis and verification.

The results showed that 2/8 environmental parameters were exceeded. Specifically, lead content exceeded 7.4 times and toxic metal component exceeded 5.15 times.

Initially investigating, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Duy Hien affirmed that, not discovered in Yen Bai province, the source of pollution caused pollution for the Red River.

The Red River route runs through Yen Bai province with a length of 94km, through Van Yen and Tran Yen districts and Yen Bai city. The flow started in the province from Lang Thi commune, Van Yen district bordering Bao Ha commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province.
