Research to increase productivity of late ripe longan variety

Department of Science and Technology of Hanoi said that experts of the Research Institute of Vegetables (under the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences) carried out the research project on some technical measures to improve productivity of ripe longan late - specialty trees are being grown in Quoc Oai district, Hanoi.

Accordingly, the project implementers conducted experiments on the late ripening variety HTM1 , aged 10-12 years, planted in Quoc Oai district and focused on studying the effects of treatment measures to the extent possible. flowering ability, fruit yield, effect of fruit-cutting measures on the productivity of plants.

Research results show that the application of flower treatment measures with KCLO 3 with different doses and the method of peeling on the tree has the effect of increasing the rate of flowering branches on each tree and increasing the number of flowers. at each cluster as well as the percentage of female flowers, increase the rate of fructification and ability to keep fruits. In addition, the application of fruit trimming will also increase fruit size, increase the average weight of fruit, and evenly fruit. The method of trimming to leave 40 fruits for each cluster is the best, giving a yield of 25.28 bunches / tree.

According to the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, many varieties of main-season longan in the North often result from mid-June to the end of July. And the late ripening variety HTM1 is a newly selected variety and is a specialty plant of some suburban districts of Hanoi like Quoc Oai and Hoai Duc.

This plant produces fruits in the first half of August to the end of September. Thanks to the sweet and fruity fruit quality, thick, crunchy pulp, beautiful bright shell color and harvested at the time of the main season market has "saved" the label Late in Hanoi for many years has become a tree that brings economic value of hundreds of million VND / ha / crop to farmers. Particularly in Dai Thanh commune, Quoc Oai district now has more than 70ha of late ripe longan, harvesting approximately 700 tons of fresh fruit each year.
