Reveal treasures in the tomb of the Three Kingdoms period

Chinese archaeologists have published details of what is contained in the ancient tomb of the Three Kingdoms, dating back to 1,800 years.

In 2008, Chinese archaeologists discovered and excavated an ancient Tam Quoc tomb 1,800 years ago. Recently, they published details of what is inside this tomb in Chinese Archeology magazine, the English version.

The tomb is found in the city of Xiangyang during the Three Kingdoms period, today in Hubei province, China. This is considered a very important strategic location in this period, the gateway connecting 2 South North. The excavation process has revealed many valuable properties in the grave.

A General of the Three Kingdoms era was buried in a domed grave with his wife. Researchers still don't know the identity and the king of this general lives. However, based on the objects and architecture in the grave, they assumed that the general was buried at the beginning of the Three Kingdoms period, around 220 AD, he most likely served Cao Cao or Cao Phi (son Cao Cao) and died about 45 years old.

One of the biggest discoveries is a real-sized bronze horse, 163cm tall and 163cm long. This is the largest horse statue found in China. Archaeologist Liu Jiangsheng said: 'The horse is carved in a standing position, the ears are straight, the eyes are protruding, the mouth is open, the neck is wide and long, the mane is vertical and the tail is drooping.

In the grave, there is a 2-storey house model made of very detailed porcelain, walled and entrance. According to architect Qinghua Guo, a professor at the University of Melbourne, such models are useful in the reconstruction of ancient Chinese buildings.

The elaborately carved bronze mirror features a phoenix and a one-legged animal. On the mirror, carved 2 sentences, temporarily translated as "Blessed with children and grandchildren after forever" and "May this mirror holder be given the position of Tam Cong".

Like any warrior, this general is also equipped for the next life: iron blade and a bronze bow, after 1800 years is still in very good condition.
