Robot jump fence

US scientists have successfully built robots capable of overcoming obstacles up to 7.5 m in height.

According to the BBC, the Sandia National Laboratory has just released a video of a machine called the Precision Urban Hopper that jumps over obstacles. The US military funded the robots project.

Precision Urban Hopper uses four wheels to move. But when encountering obstacles (like walls or fences), a piston-like leg will protrude to help it pass. The design team has moved robots on a variety of terrain. It works in semi-auto mode. Due to its integrated Global Positioning System, Precision Urban Hopper can do reconnaissance missions in combat areas. Special forces and US combat troops in urban areas will be equipped with this robot.
