Busy mothers in the land of cherry blossoms are about to have reliable helpers in keeping watch over their children. NEC Electronics Co. and NTT DoCoMo, Japan's mobile phone maker, have unveiled their latest robot prototype in Tokyo.

The name of this nanny is Papero, which stands for " Personalized Robot ". Papero not only can dance but also listen and respond with two CCD cameras and a built-in CPU.

But that's not all. When not at home, you can phone Papero and watch your child through a camera placed next to his or her eyes. You can even talk to Papero by email, allowing him or her to deliver simple messages such as " You are so good ".

Even in the testing phase, it is only a matter of time before putting Papero in use.
