Romania face the bird flu!

Rumania isolated a village infected with bird flu

On October 7, 2005, Romanian authorities isolated a village in the Danube delta of about 30 people after discovering the first three ducks in the area that died from bird flu.

Romanian Agriculture Minister Gheorghe Flutur said that the avian influenza virus found on the farm with this number of dead ducks was determined to have spread by Russian migratory birds.

Recently, Romania has also suspended the import of poultry from 15 countries, mostly Asian countries.

Currently, there have been no reports of people infected with bird flu in this village. Minister Flutur also said that the authorities vaccinated and dispensed drugs to villagers affected by the quarantine order. Flutur also said that specimens from dead ducks were sent to London for inspection.

The World Health Organization has announced that there have been at least 116 cases of human infection with bird flu so far, of which 60 have died. Most of these cases are infected by direct contact with infected poultry, but this virus is not easily spread from person to person. However, the authorities still warn that the virus is still capable of mutation and spread from person to person.

2 days ago, health officials from 80 countries and 8 international organizations met in Washington to discuss ways to prevent and deal with the case that avian influenza could turn into a major Translated as in 1918, killing is estimated at between 20 and 50 million people worldwide.
