Italy asked Romania to help solve the garbage problem

The Italian government is considering moving to Romania a portion of the waste that is flooding Naples and its surroundings, according to local media on May 28.

Napoli officials say this measure is aimed at reducing the waste crisis that has lasted more than two weeks here.

According to a spokesperson for the Italian Environment Minister, a team of experts from the ministry and the Ministry of the Interior will travel to Bucarest (Romania) to discuss the issue. As expected, in case the agreement is reached, the garbage removal plan will be conducted in two days May 31 and June 1 in Naples and the region. The local government hopes that with Romania's help, the amount of waste material deposited in Napoli streets will drop from 15,000 tons to 9,000 tons. According to local newspapers, the cost of transferring garbage to Romania is 150 euros / ton.

The government estimates that one million tons of garbage are waiting to be processed or illegally stored by the local Mafia in many parts of the region to serve the capital trafficking route that the Camorra gang has offered since the 1980s .

In the past, garbage disposal in other parts of Italy or even abroad has been applied many times by the government, including the transfer of garbage to Germany.
