Russia built more submarines for the Black Sea Fleet

The 'Admiral' shipyard in St Petersburg began to assemble parts of the Novorossiysk diesel-electric submarine 636.6 Varshavyanka. This is the first submarine of the project to equip submarines for the Black Sea Fleet of Russia. As planned, Novorossiysk will be handed over to the Russian Navy in 2013. The ship was ordered in August 2010.

In mid-October 2010, the Interfax news agency quoted a source in the Russian Navy's Joint Chiefs of Staff, saying that the Black Sea Fleet would receive 18 new ships and submarines in the next 10 years.
