Russia built robotics mechanics in the universe

The Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) has built a human-shaped mechanical repair robot to serve space exploration activities.

Izvestia daily reported S-400 , the name of the robot, can perform simple tasks such as screwing or finding unusual signs outside the spacecraft. It will be delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) within two years and will participate in future moon and Mars flights.

This is the first time Russia has built humanoid robots to operate in space in the past two decades. Sergei Avdeyev, a Russian astronaut, said that the S-400's flight to ISS would be an experimental journey before it took on much more interesting missions. Oleg Saprykin, an official of Roscosmos, affirmed that the S-400 was the first step in Russia's journey to build astronauts.

"A number of robots were designed to serve the Soviet Union's Buran and Mir space stations, but in the end they were not put into space," Saprykin said.

Andrei Nosov, one of the S-400 engineers, said the robot could send sensory information to the control center on earth. Thus the operator can feel the object that the robot touches.

America has put a humanoid robot on ISS. Its name is Robonaut. Japan and Germany also intend to bring humanoid robots to space.
