See NASA's terrifying landing aircraft experiment
Human simulated effigies are inserted into the seat. They are then dropped or collided at high speeds to measure the impact on the human body.
Through experiments, scientists will have data on the effects on the human body.
NASA's Langley Research Center has just released a video that records horrific crash trials of aircraft and spacecraft. Through testing accidents, scientists will have data on the effects on the human body.
To do this, NASA uses human models with a weight of 47-100kg fitted with sensors. These simulated effigies are attached to the seat compartments of aircraft and spacecraft. Information obtained from trials will be the key to establishing safety standards for flights.
