Self-driving cars operate using human brain simulation technology

Startup Minus Zero develops zPod, a self-driving public transportation vehicle with a mind of its own.

zPod is described as India's first autonomous vehicle , manufactured based on artificial intelligence created by Minus Zero itself. In other words, they build AI software that teaches the zPod how to drive itself. In fact, they create AI with key computing capabilities drawn from how the brain works, Design Boom reported on December 12.

Minus Zero's AI software is inspired by the process of the human brain processing information using neurons. In turn, AI seeks to simulate how the brain processes problems, then contributes to zPod's learning, behavioral cognition, adaptation, episodic memory, and decision making. According to the research team, through AI design based on the human brain, self-driving vehicles can decide where and how to run, how to avoid obstacles and accidents on the road, and how to handle problems when faced with problems. problems on the road, versus depending entirely on computer algorithms. In August 2023, Minus Zero let zPod test on the road and carry passengers on its own.

To drive itself, zPod uses cameras instead of sensors to observe its surroundings.

From AI software, Minus Zero developed True Vision Autonomy , a system installed on the zPod self-driving car model. This system is not only scalable but also works in a variety of scenarios. To drive itself, zPod uses cameras instead of sensors to observe and understand the road and surrounding situations. The automated system includes both software and hardware, designed to operate in real time, so zPod can make quick decisions while driving itself. Minus Zero says the technology focuses on safety, especially in emergency situations, ensuring passengers are not in danger.

zPod also integrates a GPS system for positioning purposes. When the camera scans the surrounding environment, the vehicle can obtain a 360-degree image, thereby predicting whether to continue driving forward or stop to give way to another vehicle. Once the camera takes pictures in real time and evaluates the surroundings, the images are processed by a computer system located in the seat.

Minus Zero said it installed two processing systems on the vehicle, the proactive system helps the vehicle drive completely autonomously while the backup system makes decisions in case of road failure or engine failure. zPod can carry 4 passengers sitting facing each other on both sides on comfortable seats.
