Send mice and slugs to the universe
Dr. Evgeni Ilin, Institute of Biomedical Problems, under VHLKH Russia said: In 2012, Russian scientists have planned to launch a space device called 'Bion-M' carrying hundreds species, including different plants and animals.
He said more specifically: Among those special travelers are 45 mice, 8 Mongolian gobies and a large number of molluscs, 15 newts, about 30-40 snails, the High-class organisms, plants, cultured tissues . A large and diverse team of these species will serve for scientific research programs.
These "astronauts" will spend a month living in weightless conditions. The purpose of the Russian scientists' extensive experiment is to study the possibilities of 'importing' life forms from the Universe into our planet.
