According to the definition of the International Association of Diabetes, abdominal obesity is an indispensable diagnostic condition of the metabolic syndrome, however, different races will have different abdominal fat indexes.

Previously, scientists have suggested, the standard for determining abdominal fat is that men have over 85cm waist, female over 90cm.

During the investigation, scientists from the Japanese Ministry of Labor and Health conducted a survey of 31,000 people aged 40-74 across the country. Then study the relationship between waist circumference index and risk of stroke, myocardial infarction.

The results found that the waistline subjects did not meet the standard for metabolic syndrome, but only two of the blood pressure indicators, blood sugar and blood fat appeared abnormal, then the risk muscles have metabolic syndrome similar to other subjects. In addition, the risk of stroke and heart attack also improved markedly.

Professor Kadowakixiao of Tokyo University, who researched the Research Department of the Ministry of Labor and Health of Japan, said that the survey results showed that, in addition to those who are in line with the standard of metabolic syndrome testing, the Thin people also need to apply the same test.
