SMS messages are destroying writing -
The Irish Board of Education warns that the explosion of SMS text messages on mobile phones is truly an unspeakable threat to writing standards among students.
The exam test report of students under the age of 15 of the Irish National Examination Committee indicates that grammatical errors and sentence errors appear very often on students' tests.
Cell phones and SMS have now become a popular means of communication. The reverse of it is the impact on the standard of writing. SMS itself sometimes just needs the correct pronunciation of the word and does not need punctuation. This has had a significant impact on traditional script rules.
The report of the Irish committee asserts in many cases that students tend to write short sentences and use them simply and the vocabulary is not extensive.
