According to incomplete statistics, there are about 32 venomous snakes among the 140 species of snakes in the Mekong Delta. Treatment of snakebite with snake venom-resistant serum is a method of neutralizing venomous snake venom in the blood, soon bringing patients out of acute poisoning.

In the past, when no specific anti-snake venom resistance serum was used, the snakebite victims were often treated with symptoms, prolonged treatment period with many complications and success rate was not high.

Recently, Nguyen Thi Chinh, 54, in Binh Minh district (Vinh Long) was bitten by a bamboo snake, was taken to the emergency department in the state of edema, bleeding under the skin in many places, the whole body was purple and had cardiovascular signs.

The patient quickly received resuscitation, respiratory control with a ventilator. Doctors have used 7 vials of serum resistant to bamboo snakes and some supportive treatments. After 15 days, Mrs. Chinh was discharged from the hospital.

Now, there are 2 types of solid venom-resistant serum vaccines produced by Nha Trang Vaccine Institute, which helps Dong Tam Snake Farm (Military Zone 9) and some hospitals in the area to effectively treat poisonous snakes. bite. At Can Tho Central General Hospital, there are 2 types of serpentine anti-venom-specific serous anti-venom treatment of earth tiger snakes and bamboo snakes.

Along with the treatment efforts at the higher level, the hospital also organized training for localities on the treatment of venomous snake snakes with special anti-venom-resistant serum to timely cure people bitten by snakes.
