Serpent against snake cobra venom

For generations, poisonous snakes have always been horrors for people. Worldwide, 50,000 people die each year from snake bites. In the world, there are many types of snake venom-resistant serum (HTKNR) to treat patients bitten by snakes, however, venomous snakes are biologically and toxic to each geographical region, each country needs to produce export HTKNR according to the standards of their own countries. In Vietnam, which doctors save patients with venomous snakebites by using RTIs?

Fear of snake venom

According to scientists, Vietnam is a tropical agricultural country so there are many favorable conditions for poisonous snakes to live. The survey results in 1998 showed that our country has about 30,000 people bitten by snakes each year, mainly due to 2 families of cobra and snakes, including 9 venomous snakes: tiger tiger, earth tiger, tiger, tiger cat, scorpion, scorpion, blue, green and sea snake. In these 9 poisonous snakes, the lord cobra is ranked as the most dangerous because they are large in size, actively attack people, the amount of venom released is so large that victims of snake bites can die on the spot .

For doctors, finding solutions to cure patients is conscience and professional responsibility. With a very high number of patients every year as mentioned above, any medicine to treat patients with venomous snakebites is a permanent question for many Vietnamese doctors. Although most advanced countries have dry winter-dry HTKR, large reserves, ready to serve victims, but the price is very high, from 600 to 1,200 USD / bottle. Moreover, venomous snakes have biological and toxicological characteristics for each geographical region, so most countries in the world have centers to research and manufacture cooperative skills for their own countries.

In 2002, the conference of the world's leading experts on cooperative transport in the UK confirmed: 'Each country needs to produce an international standard system according to its own standards'.

Saying that does not mean we have never researched the system of cooperative skills. Historically, over 100 years ago, Dr. Calmette was the first person to invent the earth tiger HTKNR right at Saigon Pasteur Institute. By 1990, the research and manufacture unit of the HTKNR directly under Cho Ray Hospital was established and in 1998, the Ministry of Health allowed the use of two types of earthen and non-animal welfare systems for clinical treatment and emergency treatment of patients. Snake bite at Cho Ray Hospital. However, with the 9 poisonous snakes mentioned above, especially with the toxic level of the cobra, these scientific works are not enough. Patients are desperately needing this type of rehabilitation.

' Carved crystal ' of the snake cobra

In order to assist scientists in researching and manufacturing other types of rural transport systems for treatment, the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City has provided funding for the implementation of the project 'Research and improve the technical process of manufacturing tiger gods. King Cobra Antivenom) ' from 6-2001 to 12-2002 by TS-BS Trinh Xuan Kiem as the project manager and Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy is the host. The project has achieved many successful results, from which, the research team continues to carry out the topic 'Research and development of multi-center clinical production and application to determine the safety and efficacy of tiger raising system. Lord ' from December 2004 to July 2007 by Dr.-Doctor Trinh Xuan Kiem, Dr.-Dr. Tran Thuy Hanh, co-chair of the project and the host unit is Bach Mai Hospital - Hanoi.

The research team has manufactured antigens antigens representing both species of cobra (black and yellow) throughout the country, immune to horses for 7-8 months, plasma separation, purification of HTKNR F (ab '2). This process is being applied in production centers in the world, meeting the small or medium scale of production, in accordance with the reality of Vietnam.

According to the study results, when a victim is bitten by a cobra, emergency treatment should be carried out, taking care not to squeeze, stab or apply any medicine, chemicals, or leaves to the wound. Just signs of swelling from the bite to more than 2 consecutive joints, or symptoms of neurotoxicity (severe eyelid, eyelash, increased secretion of mucus, difficulty speaking, difficulty swallowing, choking) is required Endotracheal intubation, intravenous infusion and injection of specific HTKNR with dose of 2,000 LD50 (5 vials), speed of 1ml / min. 60-minute follow-up, if clinical symptoms do not improve or improve, it is necessary to repeat the dose until recovery is complete. On average, a severely poisoned snake cobra patient needs to use up to 20-30 bottles of the new tiger tiger HTKNR to save lives.

The research team has tried clinical trials of tiger goddesses at the two largest health facilities in the country, Bach Mai Hospital and Cho Ray Hospital. Results on 40 patients who were bitten by a cobra, severely poisoned after using the tiger goddess of healing, fully recovered in the first 24 hours. Unexpected response within allowable limits 10% -18%. The above results have demonstrated the safety and effectiveness of the HTKNR tiger princess built at the National Anti-Poison Center, Bach Mai Hospital. With these results, Vietnam 's cobra snake has now had real "inscriptions".
