Stress women are easy to give birth to girls

Future mothers who are stressed when pregnant will be more likely to give birth to girls than boys. This is the first study to study the relationship between daily stress and the sex of the child.

Researchers at Aarhus University in Denmark have compared the sex of more than 6,000 babies with information about mothers' stress levels at the time of pregnancy, including sleep quality, confidence and the ability to cope with everyday tasks.

The results showed that mothers who were stressed were 5% more likely to give birth to girls than mothers who were more comfortable. Previous studies have also shown that the number of boys born in many countries is declining after social and political upheavals.

The research team is still unclear why stress affects the sex of the fetus, because the baby is a boy or a girl because of the chromosome in the sperm of the father. However, it is possible that high stress hormone levels make it difficult for male embryos to develop and stressed women are also more likely to lose male pregnancies.

Experts also warned pregnancy stress also caused later health problems such as high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes. Worrying too much during pregnancy also reduces children's intelligence.
