Surgeons used Da Vinci to get 20% of the donor's liver, Rahmatullah, to his nephew, Ziad, who was suffering from liver cancer due to a rare genetic disorder.
'Robotic surgery is often used in renal surgery, the heart and gynecological treatments. In liver transplants it not only improves accuracy but it is also very beneficial for donors because it reduces the barriers involved in the surgery, " said AS Soin's chief of surgery.
Ziad has donated 1.5 million rupees ($ 30,000) for the treatment of tyrosinemia, a liver disease that can not digest protein, and then develops into liver cancer.
'The liver donor only undergoes a surgery to save the patient. Using a surgical robot is much more accurate and leaves only a scar on the donor with a 3-4 inch scar , "Dr. Soin said.
