Switzerland: 43 kg of gold from wastewater
The Swiss refineries would probably have to consider launching a gold filter from their own waste water.
According to their estimates, about 43kg of gold is wasted each year in the country's wastewater.
Recently, scientists at the Swiss Institute of Fisheries Science and Technology have stated that according to their estimates each year about 43kg of gold is wasted in the wastewater of the country. The gold value is worth 1.8 million USD.
In some areas of southern Ticino, the concentration of gold in sludge is very high and it is worth commencing the recovery activities. This is not strange because in this area there are some gold refineries.
Research conducted on 64 wastewater treatment plants also shows that each year about 3,000 kg of silver, worth $ 1.7 million, is wasted. Much of this money is discharged from the Swiss chemical and medical industries.
Switzerland is the largest gold refining center in the world. About 70% of the world's gold passes through the country's gold refineries every year.
