With electronic sensors mounted outside the case, the new tank will be able to record ambient images . It then analyzes the data to reproduce the most common color, shape, and texture of the environment on the shelf using a color-changing electronic cartridge. The image, the colors on the tire change constantly in the surrounding environment, so the tank will always be in " stealth " status even when it moves from the forest to the desert.
The idea of a camouflage-like tank only exists on paper, but scientists at BAE Systems, a UK-based military equipment company, believe they can turn ideas into reality. true, the Telegraph reported.
British Army officials hope the experimental version of the self-camouflaged tank will be born in four years. According to their brief description, it will weigh 30 tons and operate on both gasoline and electricity. Its efficiency and operational capabilities are comparable to those of today's most advanced tanks.
The current British tank, Challenger 2, weighs 62.5 tonnes and uses diesel engines.
Self-camouflaged tanks are one of the military vehicles studied in a program called the Future Protected Vehicle . The goal of the program is to create seven types of military vehicles. Scientists participating in the program believe that their birth will change the way they conduct the war in the future . For example, unmanned military vehicles, also known as battlefield robots , can perform dangerous missions such as removing mines, saving wounded soldiers .
