Tesla is about to build the world's largest battery storage plant

Elon Musk is pursuing the promise of resolving the power shortage crisis in Australia by building the world's largest lithium ion battery power station in the country.

According to CNN, the company Tesla of Elon Musk has partnered with Neoen, a French renewable energy company, and the Australian Government to install the world's largest lithium ion battery system.

At a press conference in the city of Adele (Australia) on July 6, Elon Musk said that the battery storage plant will be connected to a wind farm in southern Australia. When completed, this will be the largest battery storage facility in the world and 3 times larger than the largest facility today.

This announcement came after the Australian billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes personally met and asked Elon Musk seriously whether Tesla could quickly resolve the power shortage in southern Australia.

"Tesla will start installing the system and finish it within 100 days of signing the contract. Otherwise, everything will be free. Is that considered serious enough?" , Elon Musk said on Twitter.

1.7 million people living in South Australia had to suffer frequent power outages and energy shortages. In September 2016, most of the area was completely out of power due to the impact of a storm to power lines. Another serious shortage of electricity took place in February 2017 due to unusually hot weather.

The local government will also invest $ 417 million to build the world's largest battery storage plant . The facility is linked to the Hornsdale wind farm in the city of Jamestown, also in southern Australia.
