TF-X flying vehicles are licensed to test on US airspace

For those who are waiting to own a flying car, perhaps Terrafugia has made them quite disappointed. The company launched a prototype in 2013 and remained silent for the next two years.

However, soon after returning to TF-X upgrade designed to molt in July, many people know how Terrafugia has made efforts for 2 years to turn their dreams into reality.Form TF-X convinced the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to allow it to test flight in US airspace.

Model TF-X of Terrafugia launched in July.

In this first test step, the TF-X model will be scaled down to 1 part 10 times the actual size and just an unmanned version. Even so, it is still a breakthrough in the process of research and product development of Terrafugia.

The model is allowed to fly at a height of 121m with a maximum speed of up to 160km / h. TF-X is allowed to exploit the space equivalent to the space controlled by the US Air Force throughout the country. However, they still have to work with all related ground agencies for full approval.

"Stepping out of wind tunnel testing and aerodynamics, the TF-X microcosm in real conditions will be an important step to improve the design of the car," Terrafugia said.

Many experts said that this test is essential for the improvement of TF-X model. By the structure and unique technical design of TF-X, Terrafugia will need to test a small model first. After the stability is maintained and the oscillator control will be at the turn of the actual size prototype.

The ideal TF-X model is designed by Terrafugia with a maximum cruising speed of 322km / h, a flight range of over 800km and a special runway for taking and landing. It will be a four-seat electric car with a battery that can be replaced or fast charging at stations for electric cars today.

The size of TF-X is also small enough to wriggle in American roads. Computers will control the flight mechanism, so you don't need to be a professional pilot to drive it.

Terrafugia plans to deliver Transition order forms, the model of its previous model, launched this year, this year. However, many reasons were given to delay, even Terrafugia has unilaterally raised prices from $ 279,000 to $ 400,000 for each order.

That's why many people are skeptical about the promises Terrafugia has about the future of flying cars. Hopefully, with the sample test of TF-X this time, Terrafugia can prove to them that their flying dream is gradually becoming a reality.
