The Battle of the Red Dragon helped the Chinese emperor Xia Wu to the throne

The cataclysm led to the birth of the first clique of feudal dynasties in China as one of the largest floods in the world in the last 10,000 years.

According to the International Business Times, geological evidence from the Yellow River indicates an earthquake that caused river water to flow at 500,000 cubic meters per second. According to the team, this event shows how natural disasters contribute to the formation and change of human history.

The deluge in China is a controversial topic for many years. According to legend, the Emperor of Ha Vu took control of the country and established the lower house through water treatment, overcoming floods, dredging the riverbed and leading water along channels.

The story was circulated 1,000 years ago before appearing in historical documents. Due to insufficient geological evidence of the flood, some scholars suspect the magnitude of the flooding is over time. They said that this could be a propaganda way to legitimize Ha Vu to the throne.

Wu Qinglong at Peking University with a group of international researchers decided to reenact the event that took place on the Yellow River. By analyzing sediments in the Yellow River basin, they found evidence of a natural landslide that occurred some 4,100 countries ago. After that, they reconstructed events around the flood to determine the time of the flood as well as its destructive power.

In the results published today in Science magazine, the team identified an earthquake that caused landslides, creating a dam across the Yellow River. River water accumulates in 6-9 months. When I smashed it caused one of the biggest floods in Holocene (from 9,700 BC to now).

"This flood is equivalent to the strongest flood ever measured on the Amazon River, the largest river in the world. It is also one of the biggest floods that have ever happened on Earth for 10,000 years, and is strong. 500 times the expected level from a heavy rain, so it became a devastating event for any resident of the Yellow River downstream, "said Darryl Granger, University geologist. Purdue, USA, a research team member, commented.

To find out when the flood took place, the team used a method for dating carbon isotope dating on the skeleton of children who died in an earthquake. Analysis showed that they died around 1920 BC, a few centuries later than the previous view. According to the researchers, the discovery provides an accurate timeline for the origins of the Xia family.
