The biggest brain on the planet of sperm whale

Meet the world's largest brain mammal and also the world's largest predator: sperm whale.

The brain of sperm whale weighs 8kg. Male sperm can be up to 19m long, 5 times the length of a large elephant. The heart of sperm whale can weigh up to 125kg.

Sperm fish have the largest head in the world, their heads account for 25-35% of the total body length. Sperm fish can dive deeper than 1000m and can stop breathing for up to 2 hours.

The sperm whale makes a sound loud enough to puncture your eardrum. There is a theory that they can knock out or kill prey with sound. The biggest sound emitted by sperm whales is a clatter of 235 decibels when measured on water. The noise is equivalent to the sound pressure that the Saturn V rocket produces at a distance of 1m.

. Gas accumulates inside the fish body due to the food contained in their stomachs decomposing. But because the skin is hard to tear and their thick fat, the gas cannot escape, eventually causing the body to tear in a strong explosion.

Every living sperm whale today is descended from a female. In one study, 1600 sperm whales were tested worldwide. They all have similar mitochondrial DNA from the same ancestor as a sperm whale who lived 80,000 years ago.
