The discovery of a giant coral reef measuring 56,000 km2 off Brazil
According to a correspondent in Buenos Aires, scientists from the environmental organization Greenpeace on April 24 published a study of the discovery of a 56,000km2 wide , at an estimated depth of about 200 meters off the Atlantic Ocean. Ocean is in northern Brazil, downstream of the Amazon River flowing into the sea.

The study, published in the journal Frontiers in Marine Research, says the area of this coral reef is six times larger than the original survey more than a year ago, when a group of scientists joined one. Greenpeace's 20-day expedition to record and study this huge coral reef.
Called the giant Amazon Reef System (GARS) , scientists believe that this could be a biodiversity corridor between the Caribbean Sea and the South Atlantic Ocean.
Research results confirm that the Amazon coral reef is an unimaginable ecosystem and needs to be preserved.
Greenpeace will continue to expand its research into this coral reef and at the same time petition to relevant authorities not to allow oil and gas exploitation in this area to maintain precious and rare coral reef conservation. prevent environmental impacts in case of oil leakage.
