In the past week, the heat storm hit the southwestern part of the United States, where temperatures ranged from 46 to 48 degrees Celsius in areas of Arizona, Nevada and California.
Especially, the temperature in Death Valley in California has reached 54 degrees C.
With such a terrible heat, everyone is shocked to learn that on July 5 (exactly at 5:05 PM), Earth is at the farthest point of the year compared to the sun.
According to Space.com, the earth is 152,097,426km away from the sun, which is far more than 4,999,264km from the nearest time. The difference between this distance is 3.287%, meaning that the heat emitted from the sun towards the Earth will decrease by nearly 7%.
Because the Earth is 23.5 degrees above the axis, it is farthest away from the sun in July (fluctuating from July 2 to 6) and nearest in January (from 1 - 5.1).
