The first successful printing of brick can build a house on the Moon
Scientists first successfully fabricated bricks from the moon's dust to simulate the preparation of human landfall.
Researchers at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne have created lunar bricks in a solar- heated furnace through 147 lenses with special curved design. , RT on 5/5 reported.

Minerals are melted by high-temperature rays to form lunar dust simulators before being printed in 3D by brick-and-mortar 3D printers. "We carry materials that simulate lunar dust in the furnace using sunlight," said Advenit Makaya, project monitoring materials engineer for the European Space Agency.
"Using a 3D printer, we created 0.1mm thick lunar dust at 1,000 degrees Celsius and could produce a 20x10x3cm brick for construction in about 5 hours." he further explained.
Xenon lights are used instead of sunlight in cloudy days.
Scientists believe lunar settlement is feasible with the technology because of the cost savings of transporting building materials to the Moon. "This project is proof that a method based on the Moon is possible , " Makaya said.
