The fish has the most peculiar eyes in the world

Four-eye fish (Anableps) are small fish that live in rivers in Central America and South America.

Fish eyes are strange, like frog eyes, protruding on the top of the head. Each eye in the middle has a black horizontal diaphragm dividing the eye into two equal parts, the pupil and the lens are also divided in two, looking like four eyes so called four-eyed fish.

The four-eyed fish has a very high vigilance. Two eyes used on the water, eyes used in water.

When you go to the surface to look for insects, your upper eyes will be exposed to the air so that the light passing through the lens is short and wide. When you see the prey, it bounces off the water to bite.

This is the only vertebrate that uses 'mirrors' to get light, instead of using lenses to focus light into the eyes.

Food of this species includes insects, invertebrates, algae and juveniles.

Males have an especially developed anal fin. Through this fin, they fertilize the female.

Pregnant females within 3 months have born from 10-15 small fish, with a length of 4cm.
