A small bronze coin from the first century is said to hold the only image of Jesus.

For centuries, historians have argued about the true portrait of Jesus. In one study, historian Ralph Ellis argued that an ancient coin with a bearded man was an image depicting Jesus and Mirror reporting.

This coin was once thought to portray the face of King Manu , the ruler of the kingdom of Edessa , today in southeastern Turkey. After nearly 30 years of research, Ellis argued that King Manu and Jesus were the same person. He considered it one of the most important discoveries in modern history.

Ellis historian studied the lives of these two people, then cross-checked all the evidence and anecdote recorded. He believes that the striking similarities between them are not coincidental. If this statement is correct, the picture on the coin will be the only known portrait of Jesus.

Jesus is the most drawn figure in Western art works, but there is no exact description of him in the Bible. The most familiar image of Jesus is a man in a white coat with long, loose hair, thought to have appeared in the 6th century.

"The traditional crown of the Edessan king, as can be seen on the coin, is woven from thorns. The only death of Jesus to be crowned with thorns when led to execution shows that he is related to this king, " Ellis affirmed.

However, Ellis admits his conclusion is controversial and contradicts the traditional story about Jesus. Ellis had a severe reaction to publishing the book on this topic in the United States in 2012. Critics pointed out many flaws in his theory, especially some conflicts in the mid-term milestone. the life of Jesus and King Manu.

However, Ellis still believed in her judgment."Any conclusions contrary to the traditional story of Jesus who has been circulating for 1,500 years suffers many criticisms , " he said. "But from a historical perspective, there are many evidence that Jesus and King Manu are a person".
