The lander takes pictures of the sunrise on Mars
NASA shared a photo of the sun rising over the horizon taken from the camera of the InSight lander.
Dawn on Mars.
NASA's InSight lander photographed a sunrise on Mars on April 10. "InSight will never tire of the sunrise over Mars. Every morning, the small dot in the distance rises higher and higher on the horizon, providing the energy to continue listening to the crunch under the wheels," NASA said. shared on Twitter on April 10.
In addition to posting a photo of the scene, the InSight mission team also combined some InSight sunrise photos to create a short timelapse video. Insight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) is a locally operated lander designed to study earthquakes and the interior of the red planet. The station landed in the Elysium Planitia region in November 2018 and is currently in the extended phase of operations after completing its main one-year mission on Mars (687 Earth days).
In January 2022, a giant dust storm forced InSight into "safe mode" because the solar battery pack was not producing enough energy to carry out a scientific mission. The landing station resumed operations on February 15, according to NASA. Authorities hope InSight will continue its Mars science mission over the summer and end in December.
