The Northern Hemisphere fish is found in Vietnam

For the first time, scientists found fish species mainly distributed in the Northern Hemisphere in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa).

The specimen of Gymnothorax minor eel is collected by the research team at Cua Be fishing port (Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa). It is 363mm long with males and females 270.5mm.

Species identity is a black horizontal bar system running around the body . Lattice eel is bisexual, ie, male and female sex changes in the life cycle. However, the group specimens obtained have distinct male and female distinctions. The gender difference is determined by the arrangement of the teeth on the palate and ovary at the stage of sexual maturation.

According to the scientific community, the eel is mainly distributed in the northern hemisphere , limited to the waters of Japan and the south of China. So for the first time their appearance in Vietnam shows that the range of the species has been extended to tropical waters.
