The number of people killed by Ebola continues to skyrocket

On November 20, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the number of people killed as the Ebola virus continued to skyrocket to 5,420 people in eight countries.

According to AFP, WHO said there were a total of 15,145 cases of infection since December 2013. WHO believes that the actual number of deaths is much higher than that of statistics because the mortality rate in this Ebola pandemic is up to 70%.

In particular, the number of people killed in Liberia reached 2,964 people. However, the WHO confirmed the rate of virus spread is slowing in Liberia, allowing this country to abolish the state of emergency. Mali is the latest country to have Ebola outbreaks with six infected people and five killed.

According to WHO, there have been 568 health workers caring for Ebola patients infected with the virus and 329 died. Recently Cuban doctor Felix Baez Sarria, one of the 165 Cuban medical staff, is in Sierra Leone, infected with the Ebola virus.

Cuba plays a big role in the West African Ebola virus campaign. So far, the country has sent 250 doctors and nurses to translated countries and will continue to send 450 more experts. Now Dr. Sarria is being treated by British experts and in stable condition.

Recently, the United Nations announced that the lack of toilets by the community of West African countries and the need to go to the toilet is one of the reasons for the Ebola epidemic to spread.
