The TV can be rolled into a pocket

British scientists have created a thin, paper-like television screen that can be rolled up and stored in a pocket easily.

Using quantum dot technology , the television screen is made of a plastic sheet, no thicker than a sheet of paper, illuminated by ultra-light-emitting crystals, 100,000 times smaller than a single strand of hair. But not so the color and sharpness displayed on the TV decreased, but significantly improved compared to the current liquid crystal display.

Michael Edelman, executive director of Nanoco, a company founded by scientists at the University of Manchester, said: "We are working with Asian electronics manufacturers hoping the first quantum dot TV will be. Available in the market at the end of 2012 '.

While Edelman does not say which companies will cooperate, analysts believe that the big electronics makers including Sony, Sharp, Samsung and LG will be the companies that produce quantum dots.
