AFP said the missile Antares carried the cargo ship Cygnus launched at 1:07 (local time) from the base of the US Aerospace Agency (NASA) at Wallops, Virginia state.
Cygnus separated from the rocket after 10 minutes of being launched as planned. A NASA commentator said the launch was successfully carried out in favorable weather conditions. As expected, the Cygnus freighter will arrive in ISS on January 12.
Cygnus ships with equipment for research, food and clothing for astronauts on ISS. After completing the mission, Cygnus will not return to Earth and destroy himself.
This cargo mission to ISS was named Orb-1. This is the first task in the plan to transport goods to ISS between Orbital Sciences Corporation and NASA. By 2016, Orbital will carry out 8 flights carrying 20 tons of cargo to ISS.
