Researchers at the University of Chile say the vaccine, called Egalitte, will suppress sexual and reproductive behavior in both male and female dogs by stimulating antibodies and blocking the production of sex hormones for a year.

This vaccine has attracted the attention of many dog owners because it can change the desire for their pets to reproduce, instead of the previous irreversible method. In addition, this vaccine also relieves the psychology of owners who do not perform surgery on their pets due to concerns about risks and side effects.

The research team said it began developing the vaccine in 2009. Starting this month, the vaccine will be distributed in Chile for $50 per injection . The Egalitte vaccine has been patented in 40 countries, including the United States, Argentina, Brazil, as well as the European Union.
