There was a second American infected with Ebola

Texas state health agency, USA, has just added a health worker in this state infected with Ebola virus.

This is the second infection of Ebola published in Texas, only a day after the news about Nina Pham, a nurse who had taken care of an infected patient.

"Health officials have investigated new Ebola patients to quickly identify those who have been exposed and are at risk of infection from this employee. Identified subjects will be monitored," Texas Department of Health said in a notification.

The patient was checked in the evening of October 14 and received the results around midnight.

According to Bloomberg, the Texas health agency said the new patient was an employee at Presbyterian Hospital, Texas, had a fever on October 14 and was immediately quarantined at the hospital. This patient joined the treatment of Thomas Eric Duncan, Liberian people brought Ebola virus to the US died last week.

At the press conference today, Dr David Lakey, Texas Department of Health, said the person had "lots of contact" with Liberian patients.

Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said that it is still not possible to "identify a specific error" in treating patients, causing the virus to spread.

The first viral infection in the United States, Ms. Nina Pham, 26, is currently in stable health, being cared for and monitored. She was given the serum of a doctor who had passed the Ebola death.

Nina also contracted the Ebola virus during her care for a Duncan patient, who carried the virus to the United States.

Many newspapers in the US reported that her boyfriend also had symptoms that need to be monitored. However, this information has not been confirmed by the authorities. Nina's pet dog is isolated and cared for in a safe location.

US officials are monitoring 48 people involved and health workers who treated the aforementioned Liberia patients. The World Health Organization said 4,447 people have died since the Ebola outbreak broke out in West Africa earlier this year. The death rate from this disease is up to 70%, the United Nations warns.

Yesterday, the German authorities announced a Sudanese UN employee, treated for Ebola in Leipzig, died. Two other people are being treated for this disease in German territory.
