Tomorrow morning, Vietnam sees a record long eclipse

In the morning of June 16, if the weather conditions are favorable, Vietnam and other countries in the world can observe the unusual prolonged lunar eclipse.

>> How many total lunar eclipses in the twenty-first century?
>> The longest eclipse of the 21st century is coming

According to the AP , if the weather is good, East Africa, Central Asia, the Middle East and Western Australia will see from the beginning until the end of the total eclipse. In Vietnam, around 2:00 am this phenomenon is clearly visible.

The duration of the earth's shadow completely covering the moon - known as the total lunar eclipse will last for 100 minutes. The last time, the moon was covered for so long was in July 2000, when the lunar eclipse lasted 107 minutes.

In Vietnam, according to Mr. Dang Tuan Duy, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Amateur Astronomy Club , the half-moon eclipse will start from 0h22 on June 16 when the moon enters the dark half of the earth , but the moon The half-dark real thing will be difficult to recognize because the moon is only slightly darker than usual.

According to Mr. Duy, the time to start observing is 1h22 , when starting the partial eclipse period. The color of the earth shadow area printed on the moon will gradually shift from gray to red when the shadow area grows.

The full moon will begin at 2:22, the entire moon will turn red. The full moon actually reaches its peak at 3h12, which is also when the moon is dyed the most beautiful red.

" We will continue to observe the full lunar phase until 4h02. After that the moon will gradually exit the dark, the color will return to normal until the moon comes out of the darkness completely at 5:00 am and ending the partial eclipse ", Mr. Duy said.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Phuong, Vietnam Astronomical Society , said that unlike the eclipse, observing lunar eclipses does not affect human health, so it can be observed with the naked eye.

He also noted that when observing the phenomenon, the observer should choose the area with few tall buildings, the south-west drum, and prepare all necessary items to observe.

According to NASA Space Agency 's calculations , in 2011, the next full moon eclipse will take place on December 10, the moon will be completely obscured in 52 minutes. The best observation area is Asia and Australia. In this eclipse, Vietnam will have more favorable conditions to observe.

True moon is a phenomenon that occurs when the moon is in a straight position with the earth and the sun should be obscured by the shadow of the earth. Unlike eclipses, the lunar eclipse lasts longer because the earth's shadow is quite large compared to the moon.

When the moon enters the shadow area we have a partial eclipse. When the moon passes and lies completely in the shadow area we have a total eclipse, this is the case we will observe tomorrow morning.
