According to the GNS Science Geophysical Institute, the Tongariro volcano exploded at 1325 on November 21 (local time, 7 hours 25 minutes on the same day as Vietnam time). GNS Science has also issued a warning about the threat of volcanoes.

In early August, the Tongariro volcano in the North Island, one of New Zealand's two main islands, "woke up" after 115 years, causing a series of flights to be canceled.

AFP quoted police as saying that in this latest eruption, 50 people were walking nearby but fortunately they were all safe.

It is known that New Zealand is located on the Pacific "ring of fire" with the intersection of tectonic plates, so that seismic and volcanic eruptions often occur.
