With the new treatment, the dentist will scan a substance containing a special protein on a small wormhole. This protein will create a framework that attracts tooth enamel minerals, similar to how the body creates new teeth.

In addition, experts have created a mouthwash that can kill bacteria that cause tooth decay when the user shines light into the mouth according to photodynamic therapy. Bacteria that cause tooth decay will "swallow" the molecules in mouthwash and these molecules will kill bacteria from inside when interacting with light.

The Telegraph newspaper quoted the research team as saying that the mouthwash will be available in the market within the next 3 years, while the new filling method can be applied in five years.
