Tragic 56 child remains in the sacrificial cemetery

Archaeologists have found tragic signs of child sacrifices to repel the El Nino phenomenon about 600 years ago.

This painful cemetery includes 56 skeletons of children aged 11-14 and 30 young camel skeletons, dating back to 1200-1400 AD. Other traces show this brutal ritual to pray to the gods to repel consecutive floods caused by El Nino.

The ruins belong to civilization Chimu , a brilliant pre-Inca civilization but soon faded in Peru, now in Huanchaco district, in a coastal city of Trujilo in northeastern Peru.

Professor John Verano - an anthropologist at Tulane University (USA), a member of the research team - said there is much evidence that this is not a common children's cemetery but a result of sacrifices. .

Many Chimu people have voluntarily sacrificed their children to seek to ease the wrath of nature. These teenagers died simply during the cloth wrapping, not buried in any ritual that represented the social class as the custom of the time.

Archaeologists discovered the first skeletons in early May. Through elaborate excavations, they just announced their findings to the public. This finding adds to the catastrophe for the Chimu children sacrifices .

In April, 140 children and 200 young camels were discovered just a few kilometers from the excavated area. Child sacrifices are quite common rituals in many civilizations in Peru, including the famous Inca civilization.

Dr. Gabriel Prieto Burmester, director of the Huanchaco Archeology Program, said that nowhere else in the world has sacrificed such horrible people.

Chimu civilization developed on the remnants of Moche culture along the coast of Peru from the first half of the 14th century. It is the largest empire in Peru until the Inca civilization appeared. They live in a desert range of 30-160 km between the Pacific and Andes.

This is a complex civilization, deeply social hierarchy. They build many cities and large irrigation systems, mainly survive through agricultural production.
